An epic view and brilliant blue sky – what more could I have asked for! This view is what I hiked the Laguna Torre trail for!
I’d crossed back into Argentina, after doing the W trek in Chile’s Torres Del Paine National Park, and I was really keen to stay in El Chaltén and hike its famous trails.
Laguna Torre is one of them, and I hiked there on my first full day (think 9km one way, taking under 3hrs). It’s a beautiful and quite simple hike: several uphills at the start and an easy trail to follow.
I had the added bonus of only carrying a daypack! I wasn’t exactly flying but, after carrying all my supplies and camping equipment on the W trek, it certainly felt like I was. Let’s go with light-footed speediness which I will forever remember (slightly over dramatic I know!).
The view of the lake and mountains at the end is stunning and so worth the effort. I sat by the lake for a while after my friends had left. I wanted to stay as long as I could – soaking up and enjoying my surroundings!
I loved loved loved El Chaltén! The hikes and views were exactly what I wanted in Patagonia and more. Plus, the fact I was able to start all hikes from town was fantastic! It was so easy.
Reminiscing now makes me want to teleport back to El Chaltén (if only!). I’m so happy I made it there on my trip! I’d love to stay longer, camp, see more sunrises…next time!
