On this Day: Day 3 of W Trek in Torres del Paine

me at mirador britanico Torres del Paine W trek

Here’s me smiling at the Mirador Britanico viewpoint because we made it and the visibility was good. We could see the backdrop!

On Day Three of the W trek, we hiked from Paine Grande to Camp Frances, pausing at Campamento Italiano for the extra leg up to Mirador Britanico.

It was a worthy add on, made even better by not carrying our heavy rucksacks to the viewpoint. Yes, you read right: we were able to leave our backpacks at Campamento Italiano and hike light! A great and appreciated realisation!

It was also the longest day of walking…my feet felt it for sure!

More Day Three memories…

  • Being grateful for my dry bags and extra rucksack straps. I was able to use the straps as a belt and clip my dry bags to it. I could then carry some snacks and layers with me and leave the rest of my belongings behind for the Mirador Britanico hike section.
  • Seeing several orange leaves on trees and getting excited for autumn. I would love to return to Patagonia for the autumn season where you see orange! Next time!
  • The amazing blue colour of Pehoe Lake.
  • Stepping out the tent, to a beautiful yellow sunrise sky over Pehoe Lake. Camping is so worth it when the sunrises and landscapes are so stunning!

If you’d like to read more, I’ve written two blog posts about Torres del Paine and the W trek. One is about my W trek experience and the second is more a breakdown of costs and tips.
