Note to self: Struggling to choose one photo per day is going to be a recurring theme. I feel like I mention the struggle every post – sorry!
Day One of the W trek and I couldn’t believe we’d managed to get camping places and were going to be walking it. Excited and keen!
This photo was taken before we’d started the hike. Whilst waiting for the boat across the lake to our start point at Paine Grande, we walked to Salto Grande waterfall. The waterfall turned out to be a good viewpoint for the park’s famous Los Cuernos mountains.
Every direction had fab views! Thinking back now, it would be amazing to be a photographer there. The images you could capture! I’d love to go back!
I remember the walking part of Day 1 being a gentle introduction for the days to come. We walked from Paine Grande to Grey Glacier, where we camped for the night. Rucksacks were heavy and I was very glad for the walking poles!
Our first real attempt at putting up the tent at the campsite took longer than hoped but we did it! We had an early night, ready for Day 2…
If you’d like to read more, I’ve written two blog posts about Torres del Paine and the W trek. One is about my W trek experience and the second is more a breakdown of costs and tips.
