Hello everyone! Since returning home from my 10-month solo South and Central America trip back in December 2019, I’ve been very quiet on here. In fact, I think I’ve only published one blog since then!
Reasons for being quiet are likely a combination of getting into my own head too much, what we all like to call writer’s block, and self-pressuring myself.
Recently, I’ve found myself thinking about my blog and how I’d like to get back to posting content.
Wanting to rediscover my blog coincidentally (and I think amazingly!) coincides with my travelversary. Today is the day, 13th February, that two years ago I walked out the front door, backpack on my back, to catch my flight to South America. So I had to post something small!
Destination and first stop known: Buenos Aires, Argentina. Length of trip, return date, and ending point: Undecided.
It simultaneously feels like a long time ago and also like I flew home a month ago. Very odd! I still have such vivid memories of moments, experiences and destinations visited.
In the past year, with the covid pandemic grounding the world to a standstill and us all staying home, I’ve gotten very nostalgic about my trip, the countries I was able to explore, and the many people I got to meet. Travel was normal and quite easy to do. Now, travel is precious and something many of us are longing to do again.
I’m hoping to write more freely with less pressure on myself and this little post was to get me writing again. Let this blog be a place for me to share my travel thoughts, my reflections, my in hindsight moments, and most of all to reminisce…
Write soon, and I hope you are all doing well and staying safe,
Hannah x
P.S. In between lockdowns in the UK last year, staycations could go ahead in the summer. Here’s two pics from my family staycation in Charmouth, Dorset. Dorset really has my heart! The purple heather along the coastal paths will always make me smile.
